You have less than 60 seconds!!

Do you ever wonder why you may not get a reply after submitting your resume through a company’s online job/career portal or you have posted your resume on job boards such as Monster, Indeed, etc and never get a call?

There are a couple of reasons for why nobody is calling you!!

  • You have 60 seconds or less to impress whoever is reviewing your resume. That could be the recruiter, the hiring manager or anyone who is involved in the initial review process. Is your resume 1-2 pages in length? Is your resume laid out in a format that is easy to view/scan? Do your accomplishments jump out of the page? Are your accomplishments in bullet points and either in bold or italics? What does your resume say about you?
  • Does your resume contain searchable keywords that would be pertinent to the job you are apply for or the position you wish to be considered for? There are millions of resumes posted on sites such as Monster, Workopolis, Career Builder, Indeed or a company may get 1000’s of resumes for one job posted on their website. Who is going to take the time to review this quantity of resumes? The answer is no one!! That is why companies have created search engines to facilitate the process of pulling the potential best candidates from the pile. If you want to be one of the needles that get pulled from the haystack then your resume needs to have searchable keywords that will do just that.

Apex Global Recruiting is a recruitment firm – we are not professional resume writers but we could be one of the first people to review and pass on your resume. We may have a great opportunity for you but your resume does not tell us anything about you (or perhaps it does) or if you have the skill set that may be a potential match to a great career opportunity, perhaps your dream job.
